This week's guests on REPORT FROM SANTA FE are Martha Burk, author "Your Voice, Your Vote," and Judy Williams, Past President of the New Mexico League of Women Voters, discussing important election issues.

Martha Burk presents an in-depth analysis of what's at stake for women in the upcoming election, especially the election's effects on the judiciary and the Supreme Court. Two critical areas publically targeted by the Trump administration are overturning the Affordable Care Act and reducing women's reproductive rights. The threats to the Affordable Care Act are particularly worrisome during the coronavirus pandemic.

Judy Williams is the Past President of the League of Women Voters of New Mexico. The League of Women Voters has worked since 1920 to improve local, state and national government and strengthen our communities through citizen education and action. The League of Women Voters is nonpartisan; it never supports or opposes candidates or political parties. Their Statewide Voter Guide is a valuable resource for voters and this year they are publishing an online voter guide - Vote411 - which can be found at www.Vote411.org

Www.Vote411.org will allow voters to see all of their ballot information and their sample ballot. It offers a non-partisan summary of what candidates are for, in the candidates' own words, unedited. The site gives succinct summaries of the constitutional amendments and the general obligation bonds.

This year they are also producing the main information in Spanish so all of the bond and constitutional amendments are in Spanish, as well as the pros and cons for each one.

Martha Burk is a political psychologist and women's issues expert who is co-founder of the Center for Advancement of Public Policy, a research and policy analysis organization in Washington, D.C. She serves as the Money Editor for Ms. Magazine and is a syndicated newspaper columnist and frequent blogger for womensvoicesmedia.org.
